Bellissimo Assisi!

Well, we ate out in Rome the night before last and all of the places that were recommended were closed on Wednesday evening. So, we tried something else....big mistake. It was SOOOO bad! Yesterday, we left at a little after 5 in the morning and caught the 6 am train to Assisi. Assisi is GREAT. We used the guide book that Susy gave us and visited absolutely everything except for the Hermitage. I am not quite sure how anyone can do Assisi in 2 to 3 hours. We had lunch at a wonderful little place and that made us feel a lot better about the bad meal the night before. Got back to Rome about 8 thirty and decided to have gelato for dinner....well, Deb had gelato and I had something more like a sorbet. We are all packed up and ready to head up to the port. Still having a good time, though Deb is starting to feel under the weather. See, everyone expected me to get sick, but fine so far. Well, fine if you discount the fact that on our first night in Florence, debs bags fell on my shoulder and the shoulder has been pretty painful. Life on the road!

Happy Birthday to Mom!!! We're sitting here at adjacent computers typing, and I just realized that it's Oct 5 and I haven't wished her happy birthday yet!!! We've been having such a good time I forgot.

Deborah! And it's her 60th too! Well, hope she doesn't forget yours. Sorry to hear about bags falling on you mom. Tim knows firsthand that is not a pleasant experience. Glad to hear about Assissi - was it crowded?

Happy Birthday!!
I said earlier that I didn't worry about you being out on the road since you're such an experienced traveler but after no update yesterday--I was concerned ;-)

Glad you are having a good time in spite of the road hazards. I hope your sightseeing today is as wonderful as it should be for a birthday celebration.

Love you always,

Patty,

Happy Birthday. It must be exciting to be 60 and making such an amazing trek through Europe. I hope you are having a fabulous time. Hello to Deborah as well. I'll be in Germany next week. Probably too far away to connect with you.
Have fun and a safe trip back.

Happy Birthday!!!!
Sounds like you're having a great time. Your descriptions are so well written I can visualize you and Deborah walking the smooth, worn sidewalks, drinking wine, and laughing together. Although, I hope you're aren't walking and drinking wine at the same time...

Hope you enjoy the rest of the trip and celebrate every day.

Happy Birthday! I was travelling yesterday, so I had to wait a little bit to tell you. Good to see you are enjoying yourself over there.
